Clarks Run Environmental Education Corporation (CREEC)

'Protecting and Enhancing Clark's Run as a Community Resource for Boyle County'

CREEC works to restore, protect, and celebrate the historic waterway of Clark's Run in Boyle County.

We help by monitoring water quality in the stream, sponsoring creek clean-up events, organizing efforts for the public trail along the creek corridor, providing environmental education including sponsoring Danville's Earth Day celebration and partnering with numerous groups and citizens helping to improve our community.

Providing Environmental Education to the Community

CREEC provides numerous opportunities for the public to learn more about the environment and ecology of our local watershed.  Water sampling organized by CREEC provides students with hands-on experience using science to learn about water quality and field methods for collecting data.  CREEC also coordinates field trips to Clark's Run for local grade school, high school, and Centre students to learn about the ecology of Clark's Run.

CREEC also sponsors Danville's only Earth Day festival each spring.  Participants in Earth Day have included: Centre College, solar oven, The Nature Conservancy, Shire Environmental, etc.

CREEC continues to work with local partners to ensure that Clark's Run is used as an outdoor classroom.  Local students have planted trees, participated in scientific testing, and used the creek as a laboratory for lessons presented by teachers and guest lecturers.  Contact us if you'd like more information about how your students can participate in this exciting program.
